    General Meeting
    September 7, 9:30 a.m.

    Orchids 101 by Bruce Cameron

    Please help us kick off our year by attending this exciting and informative program on everything you always wanted to know about orchids. Our speaker is Bruce Cameron of the Houston Orchid Society and owner of Orchid Obsession in Spring, Texas.


    Hummingbird Extreme Extravaganza!
    Field Trip: September 9 - leave Kingwood at 7:00 a.m.

    This “members only” field trip is to the Gulf Coast Bird Observatory.  The hummingbirds should be migrating at this time as well as many other species of birds.  Lunch will be in Lake Jackson and, if time permits, we will enjoy a tour of Sea Center Texas.


    Lavender Farm
    Field Trip: September 15 - leave Kingwood at 7:00 a.m.

    This is another “members only” trip this time to Lavande Farm in Bellville, Texas. Owner and operator, Craig Stewart, will treat members to an informational and entertaining tour on the growing of lavender in Texas. There may be the chance to help with the harvest! Lavande Farm has an extensive gift shop with many unique lavender products including soaps, pillows, candles, and teas. Lunch will be in Chappell Hill before returning home.

    General Meeting, October 5, 9:30 a.m.
    Garden Creepy Crawling Creatures

    Margarita Padilla, outreach coordinator with Jessie Jones Park, will be our speaker this month.  She will entertain and teach us about the many different “critters” we encounter each time we venture into our yards and gardens.  This is a topic that is certain to spark lots of conversation, laughs, and thrills.  Kingwood Garden Center will also present a display of fall plants and flowers.  All attendees will receive a handout on earthworms – the benefits.



  • November:

    General Meeting – November 2, 9:30 a.m.
    Christmas by Design

    Marion O’Brian, Nancy Webster, and Sandy Knowles will share their expertise with us as they demonstrate holiday floral designs and techniques we can all use in our homes this season.  These three ladies are with Swags Classic Interior Design of Humble, Texas.  Get a head start on all of your seasonal decorating and learn about new trends in color and design and join KGC for this program.


    Reforest the Forest Tree Sale

  • December:

    General Meeting, December 7, 9:30 a.m.
    Holiday Cooking with Herbs

    This is a “Not to Miss” event!!  Chef David Welch will prepare a Christmas Lunch for us at Raffa’s Restaurant in King’s Harbor.  Using fresh and dried herbs, Chef David will demonstrate and educate us on how to infuse flavor and interest in our foods with these ancient culinary treats.  An inspiration for creating an herb garden in the spring this program is a fabulous way to celebrate with club friends before the holidays.
